Phoenix's most-wanted criminal arrested

A dangerous long-wanted criminal on the run, accused of 2009 gang murder in Phoenix and ranking in the U.S. Marshals Service Most wanted fugitive list has been detained by Phoenix police and the Marshals Service finally.

The 26-year-old Cameron Taylor is accused of killing the 53-year-old Gilbert Leon accidentally during a gun fight with members of a rival gang in south Phoenix on March 23, 2009.

One of those targeted in the shooting was hit in the back and a stray bullet hit a passing vehicle. Other drivers were stuck in the crossfire, but there were no other life-threatening injuries.

The U.S. Marshals Service said an anonymous tip lead to Taylor’s arrest on Thursday.

Taylor featured on the most wanted list for charges against attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangerment, assisting a criminal street gang and a drive-by shooting.
