Hindu Sangathan Divas

Hindu unity day was celebrated in Phoenix, Arizona as Hindu Sangathan Divas on June 11 at 5 PM at Ekta Mandir Assembly hall, 2804, W. Maryland Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85017. The event was aimed at honouring Indian Senior Citizens.

The Indian community has participated in the event in large numbers and made the function a grand success. The organisers have made all the arrangement much in advance which has helped in the smooth conduct of the event.

The aim of organising the celebration was to create z feeling of pride about the Hindu identity and heritage of the community.

Each year, Hindu Sanghatan Divas, or Hindu Unity Day, is celebrated to commemorate the rajabhishekam, or coronation, of the Maratha king Shivaji as "Chhatrapati," or emperor. This marked the first instance of a Hindu king taking the title of emperor after the advent of Mughal hegemony in Bharat. It marked the rise of the leader of small kingdom to became an emperor. Hindu Sanghathan Divas, then, takes its inspiration from this example of Shivaji, to work with determination and resolve to organize Hindu society, against all odds.

The attendees of the celebrations remembered their roots in the Indian culture and felt proud to be a Hindu. The occasion marked the Hindu unity in the Indian Americans.
