Story

History shows that directors who remake original screenplays almost always produce good films. 'Hatta Meetha', a remake of Priyadarshan's Malayalam film 'Bela Nakarude Nadu', and 'Kabir Singh', a remake of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Arjun Reddy' are some examples. New to the list is Sulfira by Sudha Kongara. Soorarai Pottru, which won the National Award for Best Feature Film, is the story of a man who dreams big and, despite all odds, achieves them in the end. Much like Sooriya's lead role, he is brilliant and heartfelt.

Admittedly, this assumption may seem unconventional. A more optimistic person might call it old wine in a new bottle. After all, we have seen time and time again how penniless to millionaire stories played out on the big screen. But just when you think it's a well-worn pattern, Soda emerges gloriously, reinforcing how the simplest stories can create magic. And Saphira, played by Akshay Kumar, is magical. Films like this only come around every now and then, but they are an example of how big-budget commercial films can and should be made in Bollywood. The last time most of us probably felt this way was when Shershah launched Prime Video in 2021. “Serfira” is a relatively nice fusion of two film styles. In films, however, you can whistle and clap as you slowly enjoy the subtle narration. It's touching, moving, satisfying, healthy and so much more. And it definitely helps not to let the awesome Solarai Pottle dictate your opinion. If you watch “Sulfira” with a clear mind and color palette, you will feel all sorts of good feelings.

Sarfira revolves around the story of Vir Jagannath Maatru, a small villager in Maharashtra who runs a low-cost airline service for the middle class (also known as Hotel One Uda Udupi, I have a big dream of starting a business). . "I'll call you." The Indian population can also blur class distinctions. He is constantly at odds with his father, a school principal who believes that non-violence is the key to all problems. Weir, on the other hand, believes in fighting and protesting for the causes he cares about. But the only thing that unites them is the fact that they are both revolutionaries and visionaries. After a heated argument with his father, who calls him a coward, Weir leaves home and enrolls in a flying school. There he proves his talent and is named an honor student, but gives this up to focus on the bigger picture. This begins his constant battle against the establishment, those who sit in the corridors of power, financial problems, corruption and bureaucracy. He is accompanied on this very difficult journey by two of his friends and teammates from the academy. Vir's nemesis is Paresh Goswami, the ruthless CEO of India's largest private airline Jazz Airlines and casteist.

Analysis

Sarfira Movie Review, Rating, Story, Cast and Crew

At home, we see a rather unconventional romance taking shape between Viru and Radhi (played by Radhika Madan). Rani is a cheerful, uncompromising and free-spirited girl from Satara who dreams of opening her own bakery one day. In a flashback from 1998, Rani comes to Veer village with her family after being rejected by 20 potential grooms. And for those who are happy about the huge age difference between Akshay and Radhika, we are happy to inform you that it has been carefully marked from the beginning. However, his ambitious nature resonates with Rani and she agrees to marry him, impressed by the big dreams reflected in her bright eyes. However, she only agrees to marry him after receiving a message from the aviation official for them to share. to be precise, and he by his father) to pursue their respective careers and interests.

And while Rani is ultimately the wind beneath Veeru's wings and anchor to him, it's refreshing to see Sooda create a female character who can play second fiddle. But luckily he has his own thoughts and his own voice. Untamed and resourceful, she takes him to the microphone and sets some ground rules for Viru to have a healthy and equal marriage, letting all the stars know what she thinks. At the start of the second half, we also get a glimpse into the couple's marriage as Rani starts a thriving business and Veer still struggles to raise the funds to rent the plane. When he says this, he quickly apologizes for his behavior and mood and a few scenes later asks him to lend him 15,000 rupees to start his dream company, Deccan Air. Their relationship is portrayed with an element of authenticity, and Soda deserves credit for ensuring that the film's female characters are not simply left to the protagonist's wife.

Safira begins with a sequence in the international setting of Begumpet in 2003. There, the first test flight of Deccan Airways crashes and Vir's hopes are dashed. And it immediately sets the tone of the story. Without wasting time, Soda penetrates the main story from the first frame. With a duration of 2 hours and 35 minutes, there are only a few moments in the film where the pace slows down. Every sequence and every scene shows the courage and bravery of the protagonist. And while you may feel like the filmmakers have upped the drama a bit with this film, you'll quickly realize that what matters most is the tone and texture of the film.

Performance

Serfira marks the re-emergence of Akshay, an actor who has delivered several commercial and critical failures. It's clear that this is his best performance in recent years. He cries earnestly, his flaws are palpable, and his triumphs seem personal. You will always be there for her, Vir. For example, in a key scene, he asks a passenger at the airport for 5,200 rupees because he doesn't have the money to buy a ticket to pick up his dying father. It really touches me and brings me to tears. When he finally comes home, he finds that his father is dead and his last words were "veer." She cries in front of her mother, but even then she can't hold back her tears. Yes, Vir is a hero. He is devoted and loved by everyone. The people in his village depend on him to improve their lives. His friends will do anything to prove their loyalty and love to him. However, Will is very human. Again and again we see her vulnerability and emotional vulnerability exposed. And the scenes with Rani are really great. Their interactions and banter as they constantly try to one-up each other are quirky and the main cast does a fantastic job.

Radhika eschews the hero character (an ordinary actress) and effortlessly slips into the skin of a Maharashtra woman in a sari and nasani. It's heartwarming to see him slurp down a plateful of dal shawal without realizing what he looks like and that he's the opposite of the archetype of an innocent, righteous hero. He is a very nice person, but when he approaches her with a business plan, she accuses him of treating her lightly. His comic timing is also excellent. Paresh Rawal reprises his role as Paresh Goswami in Sarfira and does a great job. He is corrupt and will stop at nothing to ignore the people beneath him. He can't stand the idea of a rich businessman sitting next to a fisherman or a cleaner on a plane and is determined to suppress Weir's ambitions. Ultimately, he values profit over ideals and believes that flights should only be reserved for the rich, so he washes his hands every time he comes into close contact with the poor.

Seema Biswas is wonderful as Veer's mother. He shows restraint where appropriate and gives his full performance when the scene demands it. The scene where Viro cries and begs after his father's death is a heartbreaking juggling act. Don't miss this beautiful film. A masterclass in meaningful commercial cinema. And don't let Akshay's recent performances change your mind about Sarfira. It celebrates what is most important in life: the human spirit, dreams, simplicity and goodness, and that is what matters.

Final Word

Sarfira is an emotional and heart touching realistic tale that should not be missed. Akshay Kumar shines well as Vir.
