We Walk Together 2020 - Breast cancer Awareness BAPS
About this Event
BAPS Charities We Walk Together 2020 in Phoenix, AZ seeks to increase awareness and education about breast cancer. We Walk Together 2020 supports Susan G. Komen’s comprehensive education portal About Breast Cancer at www.komen.org.
Co-developed with Harvard Medical School faculty and Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center staff, the About Breast Cancer section of komen.org has the latest information to help people better understand breast cancer, covering topics along the breast cancer continuum of care, including breast anatomy, risk factors, screening, and diagnostic tests, treatment options, metastatic breast cancer, survivorship topics, integrative and complementary therapies, and support.
With 1 in 8 women in the U.S. is expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her lifetime—or one woman every 2 minutes—nearly everyone will be touched in some way by this disease. Susan G. Komen’s Chief Scientific Advisors estimate that more than 30% of those dying of breast cancer each year could be saved if they had access to breast cancer treatments that exist today. “Access to treatment” as described by Komen advisors does not only refer to traditional screening or prescribed medical care. The issue of access begins much earlier; with ideas and beliefs about breast cancer risk, symptoms, diagnosis, and recovery. About Breast Cancer serves more than six million people annually as a source of access to education and information.
Your support furthers Susan G. Komen’s Bold Goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.
Join over 26,000 walkers in over 78 cities in North America to end breast cancer forever.
