NO LUNAR ECLIPSE IN USA & Sri Sathyanarayana Pooja at SVK Temple
About this Event
As per Shastra, penumbral eclipse is not considered as an GRAHANAM (eclipse).
Saturday, July 4th is Poornami this month, coinciding with the US Independence Day. We will have an online Sri Sathayanarayana Pooja as we have had for the last three months. If you wish to register, please see details below. We will send out the meeting details to all those who have registered. Those who have signed for the year, need not register again, and we will send them the details. We had hoped this month would be one where we could go back to hosting it in the temple, but circumstances do not allow it.
On an related matter, we had many calls on if the Sri SathyaNarayana Pooja on July 4th is being cancelled due to a Penumbral lunar eclipse that is supposed to happen on that day. The answer is NO Ashucha Aacharana, we do not observe the event on that day as an eclipse in a religious context. The reason for this is the that it is that this event is happening in the shadow ???? not touching the umbra ?????. The eclipse is observed for religious purposes only if touches umbra (?????). As an association of priests in the US (prohoit sangh) as well as reputable sites like https://mypanchang.com/ also have confirmed this. Please follow this link if you want further details - https://www.aztemple.org/upcoming-events.html
We have consulted with experts also and there is consensus among all of us that we can disregard this phenomenon for this time Hence we are going ahead with Sri Sathyanarayna pooja on that day. Please rest assured we would not have made this decision with very careful consideration.
