The story reached its epic status in almost every language it was translated in whether made by Tulsidas in Hindi, Kambar in Tamil or the various versions in South East Asia that are highly celebrated - such as Kakawin Ramayana in Javanese, Ramakien in Thai, Reamker in Cambodian, Yama Zatdaw in Burmese, Hikayat Seri Rama in Malay and Phra Lak Phra Lam in Laos.
