Doctors in China operated on a 12-year-old girl and removed a huge ball of hair from her gut that occupied 70 percent of her stomach, according to geobeats.

The girl's mother sought medical help after the young girl was rapidly losing weight and clumps of long hair over the past year. CT scans report revealed that she had a nearly foot-long mass in her stomach.

Following surgery, the mother and doctor were shocked to see that it was a mass of hair.

The mother said that her daughter had the habit of putting her in her mouth, but she never really gave it a second thought.

The girl has been diagnosed with a rare psychological disorder that compels her to eat hair, dirt and other filth.
