Vijayadashami is one of the greatest Hindu festivals, which marks the victory of good and righteousness over evil. The festival is also known as Dussehra, celebrated on the 10th day in the month of Ashwin or Kartik (September-October).
The festival commemorates the victory of good over evil as it is the day when Lord Rama killed the ten-headed demon king Ravana, who had abducted Rama's beloved wife Sita. An epic war was fought between Rama and Ravana, which lasted for ten days and culminated on Dashmi, when Rama valiantly destroyed the demon Ravana and took Sita home.
The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA (HSS) is organizing the Vijayadashami Utsav in Arizona. Don't miss! The event is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 23 Oct 2016 at the Sunnyslope High School. The celebration will begin at 8:30 AM.
