Mayer, AZ an investigation of a convicted felon lead to clues in determining the identity of a missing body. A school teacher Cathryn Gorospe was missing from Phoenix. The remains found at a rural private property at Mayer were of same 44 year old Cathryn. Flagstaff officials’ representative Cory Runge has confirmed to use DNA test to determine the same.
Gorospe’s roommate was the one who reported her missing on the same night she posted bail of her friend Charlie. Her roommate is still under shock and is recovering from the grief. She met Gorospe in January this year at the same school, where Gorospe was the kindergarten teacher and her roommate is an instructional assistant. They have been living together after Gorospe asked her to house-sit for her.
The exact cause of death was not disclosed but its believed to be a case of homicide. Gorospe was a Kindergarten teacher at Arrowhead Elementary school in Glendale. She went missing on Oct 6th after posting bond for a 27 year old Charlie. She may have been in a relationship with the person but nothing is confirmed yet. Her roommate was expecting Gorospe to return home after bailing out Charlie that night.
The remnants of the body found on Highway 69 in Mayer resemble the exact appearance and other description of Gorospe. Also the roommate of Charlie has told he and Gorospe were supposed to have dinner together on that day. Though everything is vague but officials believe Charlie may have taken Gorospe’s vehicle to bring gun and drugs the next day. He was spotted in an SUV on Oct 9th and he was arrested after crash chase. He is jailed in Maricopa county.
ASU police have brought in charges of assault, unlawful imprisonment and trespassing in the incident following his arrest. While o charges are framed yet for Gorospe’s death but investigation is still on. Charlie has a criminal history with served prison time for theft, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Gorospe’s family and friends were informed about the remains of similar female found at rural site. And they have visited the location already.
Gorospe’s roommate has given her statement and requested to keep her identity confidential. She said, “Day by day, moving forward, praying for peace and strength to keep going, and keeping her name alive as much as we can”
Charlie is still in Jail and his sister has spoken to Gorospe’s family. She said Gorospe was a kind and helpful person who wanted to help Charlie get over his drug addiction but it back fired.
Charlie is the prime suspect according to Flagstaff police and they are investigating the case further
