National Park Service plans to raise entrance fee

With the federal proposal released this week visiting national parks would get more costly. The National Park Service said that they are planning to cut off $12 billion in maintenance projects.

Under this plan, 17 popular national parks in U.S are raising their weekly pass to $ 70. These parks include Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion and Yellow Stone. Other than these 3 parks in Maine and Virginia would be affected.

The agency has collected around $200 million as entrance fees last year. With this raise, they are expected to raise $70 million. They are planning this raise to be in five busiest months.

The parks get 70% revenue from these entrance fees only. National Park is breaking visitation records from past three years. Park Service has a backlog of $ 11.3 billion. Every year Park Service allocates more than $ 1 billion.
