Arathi School of Dance, which holds classes on the 3,000-year-old style of Indian dance in two locations currently in Arizona - Uptown Phoenix and Chandler - have now begun their dance school in North Valley (Happy Valley), delighting classical Bharata Natya dance enthusiasts.
About Arathi School of Dance
The school offers training in the popular classical dance style of India, Bharata Natya. Many enchanting folk dances of India during the course for performances are taught. Likewise, for performances, opportunities exist during workshops, for learning other classical dance styles - Kuchipudi, Mohini Attam and Kathak.
The Bharata Natya student course of study is divided into 7 levels; each level designed to span one academic year. The school believes that booming progression to the next higher level is dependent on regular class attendance and individual student's dedication and practice habits.
About Kalashri Asha Gopal
Asha Gopal is an accomplished dancer and a disciple of celebrated teachers. She has bestowed Bharata Natya recitals in all major cities of India and other parts of the world. She established the Arathi School of Dance in 1981, and the school has expanded since to Tucson and to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Asha is the proud recipient of many prestigious awards. To name a few: 'Singar Mani' title from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai in 1969; NRI Excellence award at London, England in 1993; Karnataka Kalashri award from Sangeet Natak Academy in 1999.
