India has been placed at the 82nd position on the most recent Henley Passport Index ranking. This allows Indian passport holders visa-free entry to 58 different countries. This ranking relies on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world's most extensive travel database. Currently, India shares its spot with countries like Senegal and Tajikistan. The top spot on the list is held by Singapore, whose passport allows entry to 195 countries without a visa. Following Singapore, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain are tied with Japan in second place, with access to 192 countries. Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden found themselves in third place, with visa-free access to 191 destinations. The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland share the fourth spot. Australia and Portugal tie for the fifth spot, while the United States is now in eighth place, providing entry to 186 countries without a visa. In comparison, Pakistan stands at 100th place, allowing its passport holders to visit 33 countries without a visa.

Afghanistan now offers access to 26 destinations. Christian Kaelin, who leads Henley and Partners, pointed out the growing difference in global mobility opportunities among countries. He highlighted a significant rise in the global average of visa-free destinations from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024. This increase, though, has widened the gap between the most and least accessible countries in the index's history. Over the past 19 years, the Henley Passport Index has monitored freedoms in 227 countries and territories globally, with data provided by the IATA. The index stands out as a popular interactive resource to sort, rank, and view passports worldwide. It is regularly updated to reflect changes in visa policies throughout the year.
