The extravagant side of fashion - the Indian Bridal Week, 2013 Delhi Edition kicked off to a grand start with designer JJ Valaya  displaying his “The Maharaja of Madrid”collection on the ramp.

The extravagant collection, inspired by Spanish taste and art, was presented by AMR.

It was a spectacular collection replete with white ensembles including sarees and long-collard coats,  chunky Indian jewellery, Spanish fans and headgears, light embroidered sherwani and  a long anarkali like attire with hanging tassles, that left the audience spellbound.

The second part of the show, which was equally a treat for the eyes, was inspired by the Manton de Manila. It showcased huge fringed shawls of Spain, Indian Jamawar in paisley pattern, beautiful bolero jackets, big floral, jacquard embroidered lehengas.

The third part, inspired by murals of Mexican artist, Diego Rivera, featured  floor sweeping, long spaghetti strapped dress with a criss-cross back, sherwanis with bundgala and straight fitted pants.

The fourth part, depicting armors of Spain and India, included fine metal embroideries, velvets, tulles and Georgettes.

The final part was inspired by the bull fighters of Spain also known as Toreros. It featured long ankle length sherwanis in red and heavy gold zardosi work in gold and black,  georgette saree in red print  among others.

The show concluded with Kabir Bedi and Kangana Ranaut turning up as JJ Valaya's show-stoppers. The starry presence on the ramp added to the further opulence of the show.
