The 39-year-old Spanish actor Penelope Cruz delivered a baby girl in a Madrid hospital on Monday.

This is the second child of  the Oscar-winning star, who is married to Spanish actor Javier Bardem. The couple have a two and a half year old son called Leo.

The Spanish media revealed the news of the birth on Tuesday. However, there has been no confirmation from the parents yet.

Cruz and Bardem are the only Spanish actors in the industry to have clinched Academy Awards, both for supporting roles.

They couple first met on the sets of a Spanish film in 1992. However, they started dating each other after Woody Allen's comic caper "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in 2008.

The couple will be seen in supporting roles in Ridley Scott's  "The Counselor" that is likely to release later this year.
