Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been hit hard in the latest ICC Test batsman rankings. Kohli and Rohit suffered a significant drop in the rankings as of the latest update on Wednesday after India suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Australia in the Adelaide Pink Ball Test last week. Kohli has fallen six places to 20th, while Rohit has fallen five places and is now outside the top 30 at 31st. Kohli appeared to have recovered after hitting 30 centuries in the Perth Test but was out of form with scores of 7 and 11 in Adelaide last week. Rohit, on the other hand, fell back to first place. His batting order is number 6. However, in Adelaide he conceded just nine runs in both innings. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant are the only Indians currently in the top 10.

While Jaiswal is fourth, Pant has fallen three places and is currently at ninth position. After him, Shubman Gayle is the next ranked Indian and this boy is currently 17 years old. In a major breakthrough, Harry Brook has overtaken Joe Root to take the top spot in the latest ICC Men's Test Batsmen Rankings. “There has been a shake-up at the top of the Test batsmen rankings as stars from Australia and South Africa have made significant progress in the updated list,” the ICC said in a statement. Joe Root's reign as the world's best player comes to an end as rising England star Harry Brook secures the top spot in the latest ICC Men's Test Batsmen's Rankings for the first time, confirming his rise to the top. Brook overtook Root at the top of the Test batsmen rankings after making his eighth Test century against New Zealand in Wellington last week. The English right-hander is currently one point ahead of his more experienced teammate at the top of the table.

Brooks' total score of 898 is just one more than Root's current score of 897, making the 25-year-old the 34th leading Test batsman of all time. Root has held the top spot since being overtaken by former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in July this year, and has been at the top a total of nine times throughout his illustrious career.
