In a major development, the Andhra Pradesh Government has waived off the entertainment tax on Deccan Chargers matches that take place in the state. The orders have been already passed and Deccan Chargers will not be asked to pay the entertainment tax for IPL 4.
The chief secretary of the state, Ashutosh Mishra has said that this would even apply to the tickets that were sold last year for the matches that took place in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.
He has also said that Deccan Chargers appealed the State Government not to charge them entertainment tax as they have been giving stipends besides providing sports’ training to selected candidates from 200 schools in the state.
The government, after going through their request and their interest in promoting the sports in the state, came out with this decision, he added.
Notably, so far no state government passed such orders to promote the cricket or IPL. The fans of Deccan Chargers are said to be happy after this news was in air as the management that owned the franchise is likely to roll down the ticket prices.
All in all, it’s a good sign to improve sports and games in the state. (Phani)
