Serena Williams crushed Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals with a 6-2, 6-4 demolition and powered into her eighth Wimbledon 2015 final to face Garbine Muguruza.

Wimbledon’s No1 seed has now won 17 successive matches against the Russian. Serena will face Spanish 20th seed Garbine Muguruza in Saturday’s final. Serena Williams lifted to trophy 5 times in 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

"I got a little nervous because it was the semi-finals and it's a long time since I've been this far at Wimbledon. I'm excited to get through," said Williams.

It took just 79 minutes for Williams to blitz Sharapova off Centre Court with 13 aces and 29 winners as the five-time Wimbledon champion held her 18th career win in 20 meetings with her bitter rival.

“I’m not going to come out and become a serve-and-volleyer or a chip-and-charge type of player. No, you’re not going to see that from me,” Sharapova said after Williams had beaten her 6-2, 6-4.

Serena extended her winning run at Grand Slams to 27 matches and her 2015 record to 38-1. She is one win away from holding all four major titles at once. She achieved the feet in 2002-03. She is also just away from becoming the first women the first woman to win the French Open and Wimbledon back to back. She achieved the difficult double last in 2002.
