The second wave of coronavirus forced the theatres across the country to remain closed from April. The crucial summer season is extremely wasted for Telugu cinema. The exhibitors suffered huge losses and they are urging the producers not to head for the direct digital release. Victory Venkatesh completed the shoots of two Telugu films: Naarappa and Drishyam 2. The producer Suresh Babu closed the deals and both Naarappa, Drishyam 2 are heading for a direct digital release. There are speculations that the makers fetched Rs 70 crores from both the films and they are heading for streaming soon on Amazon Prime and Disney Plus Hotstar respectively.
With the request of the Tollywood exhibitors, Venkatesh decided to release Naarappa in theatres. He asked Suresh Babu to close the deal and the negotiations are going on. If the deal gets canceled, Naarappa will release in theatres in August. Venkatesh is also ready to return back some of his remuneration of the audience will not rush to theatres and watch the film. The details about Drishyam 2 are yet to be finalized. Naarappa is the remake of Tamil blockbuster film Asuran. Srikanth Addala directed the movie and Suresh Productions, V Creations are the producers. Priyamani played Venky's wife in this rustic action thriller.
