Nagarjuna after the super success of Soggade Chinni Nayana gave his nod for Bangarraju and the film is a village-based entertainer. His son Naga Chaitanya played a crucial role in Bangarraju and the film is directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala. Ramya Krishna and Krithi Shetty played the lead heroines in Bangarraju and the film released on January 14th during the Sankranthi weekend. Bangarraju had a decent run during the holiday season and the film collected a theatrical share of Rs 23.88 crores in four days. The movie also raked Rs 3 crores across the other territories. The theatrical rights of the Telugu states are valued at Rs 30 crores.
The film has to do well on the weekdays to recover the investments and end up as a hit. Bangarraju received mixed response but the film was watched widely as it turned out to be the first option for the audience. Rowdy Boys, Super Machi and Hero are the other films released during the season and the response for these films is quite poor. Bangarraju is produced by Annapurna Studios and Zee Studios jointly.
