Bellary officials surrendered to Gali to save their lives!

Bangalore wing of the CBI has come to know from the Bellary district officials that the former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, kingpin of the illegal mining mafia, ran a parallel administration in Bellary town during his heydays.

“The district administration was mostly run from his house in Havam Bhavi and we surrendered to him fearing a threat to our lives,” the officials told the CBI.

The CBI sleuths led by Mr R. Hitendra quizzed more than 30 officials who served in the Bellary Administration during the mafia regime of Janardhan reddy in the illegal mining case involving the Associated Mining Company (AMC) owned by him and his family members.

The senior officials from Revenue, Mines, Forest, Road Transport, Commercial Taxes, police and several other departments of Bellary District told their interrogators that they acted at the behest of Janardhan reddy to protect their lives.

The officials told the CBI that Gali had insulted and treated in the most inhuman way some of the officials who questioned him and refused to toe his line. “This was the main reason for our meek surrender to him,” they revealed.

“The entire report of Lok Ayukta with regard to the illegal mining of Gali was absolutely correct,” they told the sleuths.

It might be recalled the IT department submitted a report to the Centre in 2010 that its raiding teams were not allowed to enter the Bellary district to conduct raids on illegal mining mafia. “The IT department’s report is also true,” they told the CBI sleuths.

Gali acted as King, Ali Khan as his Commander-in-chief

The cornered Bellary officials told the CBI that while Gali acted as king of Bellary, his personal assistant Ali Khan acted the Commander-in chief of his army. “At the behest of Gali, Ali Khan forced everyone to sign papers,” the officials revealed to the CBI.

It is learnt the CBI will now submit a special report to the Supreme Court which has been reviewing the Gali case. (J)
