Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said today the department has recognized five railway stations in Andhra Pradesh as model railway stations.
As part of his budget speech for the year 2012-13 in Parliament, he said Duvvada in Visakhapatnam district and Macharla, Piduguralla, Vinukonda and Sattenapalli railway stations in Guntur district have been declared as model railways stations.
The minister said the doubling work between Korukonda and Visakhapatnam in the state will be completed in the new financial year. He also proposed new railway lines between Kotipally and Narsapur, Kadapa and Bangalore, Nadikudi-Srikalahasti and between Vijayawada and Gudivada.
“Additionally, we propose to introduce electrification on the Nallapadu-Bibi Nagar rail line,” he said, adding survey would be conducted for some new proposed lines in the state. (J)
