The CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report for the year 2010-11 has charged that the state government’s indiscriminate allotment of land for various purposes to different persons and companies between 2006 and 2011 has caused a huge loss of several thousands of crores of rupees to the state exchequer.
The report, which was tabled in the assembly on the last day of its budget session today, observed that the government has indulged in grave irregularities and arbitrary methods in alienating and allotting land to individuals and organizations at very low rates without safeguarding the interests of the state.
Nearly 99 per cent of these land allotments were made by the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy during his tenure between 2004 and 2009, as per the report.
Between 2006 and 2011, 88,492 acres of land was allotted to 1027 beneficiaries who included various individuals and entities giving them an undue benefit of Rs 1784 Cr. (J)
