Mr Vidya Charan Shukla, 84, known to be a veteran politician from India's governing Congress party was flown to a hospital near Delhi after the May 25 multiple shotgun wounds he suffered in a Maoist sudden attack on a Congress procession in the rebellious stricken state of Chhattisgarh. Due to the that impact twenty-three people inclusive of local Congress leaders were crushingly killed in the sudden violent attack in the forested Sukma area, 345 km from the state capital Raipur.
In the midst of those violently killed were Chhattisgarh state Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel along with his son Dinesh as well as former state home minister Mahendra Karma. They were known to have set up a disputatious body of anti-Maoist citizen soldiers during 2005.
