Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to form panels to hand out “functional responsibilities” to party leaders for the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The panels will be responsible for carrying out a gamut of functions like conducting election rallies, manifesto-writing and dissemination, development and display of publicity material, media management and reaching out to particular sections of voters like women, professionals or rural voters.
BJP, however, staved off from doling out duties to the leaders by a day, hinting that it might go for "collective election management".
"The areas of responsibilities have been identified. Names would be announced tomorrow," a party leader said, after the meeting.
Party president Rajnath Singh is likely to consult general secretaries and leaders before assigning them responsibilities.
The 2-hour long party meeting was attended by all senior members of the parliamentary board including Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and senior party leader L.K. Advani.
Modi is the current party's campaign committee for the Lok Sabha elections.
