A 27-year-old Indian working in the US was shot dead on August 6 by an unknown assailant. The hunt is on to nab the assaulter. In the meantime, the cops have announced a reward of USD 1,500 for any leads on the case.
Manpreet Ghuman Singh, a native of Majri Kishnewally village in Punjab, was an employee at a gas station in South Lake Tahoe. He succumbed to a single bullet injury on his upper abdomen. Authorities have failed to nab any suspect yet.
Police Department detectives have joined forces with the El Dorado County Sheriff's and District Attorney's offices and the FBI for further probe on the homicide.
South Lake Tahoe police have ruled out a case of robbery here. Police have extracted two still images from the CCTV camera, but the poor resolution of the imaged makes it difficult to identify the gunman, who was cloaked in a hooded sweatshirt.
Meanwhile, cops are thoroughly investigating the victim's life to help identify any potential leads, including his interactions with customers or troubled personal relationships.
Manpreet had migrated to the US two years back.
