A planeload of travelers arriving at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport on Saturday night were asked to get tuberculosis shots as early as possible.
Confirming the news, a Phoenix woman traveling with her husband and 10-year-old daughter from Austin, Texas said that they were flying on a US Airways Express flight operated by Mesa Air when the plane was stopped short of the terminal.
A squad of paramedics and police stormed inside the plane and seized a passenger sitting in the front who apparently had active tuberculosis.
Following this inciden, all the passengers on board were advised to get TB shots. Not just that, customer service personnel at the airport also asked the passengers to get in touch after the shots.
Bill McGlahsen, spokesman for US Airways, said that the Austin-to-Phoenix flight was carrying a passenger with a “medical issue”, but would not confirm a specific disease.
McGlahsen revealed that the 'unwell' passenger was cleared to board the plane in Austin, but while the flight was in the air, the passenger’s status was changed to “no-fly.”
