Indian American Richard Verma sworn in as US ambassador to India

Richard Verma, an Indian-American, sworn in as US diplomat to India, Secretary of State John Kerry administered his oath ceremony.
Verma is the first Indian-American to be appointed for this post.
Verma was accepted by the US Senate by voice vote a week ago. He will replace Nancy Powell, who resigned for this post in March.
Verma chosen for prospective Indo-American relations and he’ll be going India before John Kerry’s visit in early January and President Barak Obama visit for R-Day ceremony to India.
Verma parents came to US in early 1960s. Many expressed his choice as the right step for better relations with India.
