A massive rock- climbing wall known as the “Grand Canyon Experience” has found a new place in Phoenix. This rock is featured was a remarkable at the city’s Super Bowl block party-XLIX. The rock will be permanently installed at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown.
The city has prepared a master plan to transform the often-sleepy park into a bustling hub with amenities like a zip line, splash pads and performance pavilion.
"The addition of the climbing wall at Hance Park is the start of many great things coming to our vibrant downtown," said City Councilman Michael Nowakowski, who represents the area.
Nowakowski said the climbing wall will be operated by the non-profit Hance Park conservancy. Negotiations are going on to determine the climbing fees and operating hours.
"It's kind of bringing the outskirts of Phoenix right into the downtown area," said Karl Obergh, president of the Roosevelt Action Association, which represents the surrounding neighborhood. "There's just so much that can be done in this park."
Officials said, an engineer will be hired to install the wall so that it is made accessible for the disables.
