October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, but 28-year-old Anjelica Moraga is the latest victim of domestic violence. Over past three years, deaths due to domestic violence have rapidly increased in Phoenix.
Ricardo Garcia, 26, has been arrested and is facing charges of murder and assault. According to police, Garcia and Moraga are in a live-in relationship. On Sunday night Garcia has got into a fight with his girlfriend and left the home.
Later, Moraga found him at the parking lot of a strip club; this led to a deadly confrontation. Police said that she didn’t know where she was she and her two friends and her children were searching for Moraga. Garcia rammed his SUV into her car when her children were inside. He drove his SUV into her, knocking her to ground and ran over her.
Later her relatives found Garcia in an alley near the home. They fought with him before police arrested him; Garcia has admitted about the incident, he said he ran over because he was mad that she hit him.
Police Sgt.Howard said that if people start looking at their partners more critically, and when they start seeing controlling issues, it’s time to get out.
