Hundreds Of Science Supporters Rally In Margaret T. Hance Park

10 year old Darius Collins on Saturday visited Margaret T. Hance Park in the morning but never expected he would get a ride in a roller coaster. “It was fun, and it felt pretty cool” he said. The roller coaster was part of the virtual reality which was an exhibit at March which was featured with dozens of interactive exhibit for Science Phoenix and booths representing Arizona organizations and advocacy groups.  

“When I was falling down, it really kind of felt like I was falling down,” told Darius.

The match and rallied you hundreds of the science supporters through the valley along with advocates as well. Darius’ mom, Pardis Collins told that she took her family because they have a passion for science.

“We like to support any events that bring attention to the field,” she said.

According to the March For Science organization, a global science moment which had the Phoenix March and Raleigh as part of it aims to bring along science together advocating from simple multiple fields to call on public officials and enact evidence-based policy that serves all communities.

27 years old volunteer Taylor Bednarz, 27, said evidence-based policy is important when working to prevent the spread of diseases. She is an epidemiology disease investigator with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

“In my career, where I'm working for the county, everything that's mandated in my job is voted on by my representatives," Bednarz mentioned. "Having good policy that's based on evidence that we know works is so important for what I do."

For others, the event gave an opportunity for scientists from different fields and science enthusiasts to work together and learn from each other.
