It is well known that, the Supreme Court has ordered a floor test to be conducted at 4.00 pm on Saturday, Ahead of the floor test, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala calls a special assembly session at 11 am tomorrow.
Appointment of a three-time MLA as a pro tem speaker, neglecting RV Deshpande who is the senior most leader, itself reflects that the BJP does not have majority and that they are trying to manufacture a majority through such protects.
Congress Spokesperson Randeep singh Surjewala addressing in a press conference said making some points out of supreme court observation on KG Bopaiah concluding that with three points,
1. Bopiah was trying to defeat a floor test so that Yeddyurappa remains the Chief Minister of Karnataka
2. He conspicuous violated the Constitution
3. He flagrantly violated the rules and regulations.
He says that it is convention that the senior most leader in the Assembly is always appointed as the protem speaker. RV Deshpande is the senior most leader in the Assembly. Even though he belongs to the Congress he is revered by all parties equally.
Singh hits back at the BJP for appointing KG Bopaiah as the pro-tem speaker. He calls it an "encounter" of the Constitution.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi on KG Bopaiah’s appointment as the pro tem speaker: What the BJP has done is not the right thing.
RV Deshpande is the senior most (member). Senior most person should have been the pro tem speaker. We do not accept this and will discuss our next step later.
