Pride Month 2019: Sikh Man’s Rainbow Turban Impresses Barack Obama

Photo of an Indian origin Sikh neuroscientist, which went viral for his colorful turban from a Pride event has grabbed the attention of scores of netizens and even the former United States President Barack Obama.

Jiwandeep Kohli, who is bisexual had worn a rainbow-themed turban to San Diego Pride and posted it on Twitter marking June Pride 2019. The photo went viral with people praising his creativity.

Barack Obama shared Kohli's tweet with the caption, "You've got a lot to be proud of, Jiwandeep. Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal. Turban looks great, by the way. Happy Pride Month, everybody!"


Following which Kohli expressed his amazement and replied to Obama saying, "I'm a fairly verbose person, but today I am lost for words. Thank you for your support and the compliment, Mr Obama. If I can ever repay them with pastries, please let me know!"


June LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) Pride Month 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Stonewall Riots, popularly known as the Stonewall Uprising, which saw members of the LGBTQ+ community with the police during a raid in Greenwich Village, New York City.
