A UK-based software engineer was looted Rs 1.1Cr by a woman, who was introduced from a matrimonial website. According to Police, Sunny, 41, KR Puram, Bengaluru resident is working in the UK. While he was in India for training purposes registered himself on a matrimonial website, where he met a woman with a fake profile. After a few messages, the duo exchanged their mobile number and the conversation continued till marriage interest. She told him that her father is dead and was living with her mother. She made a video call to Sunny on July 4th at 12 am. Without Sunny knowledge, she recorded the call, where the girl allegedly stripped herself. She threatened Sunny for sharing the video with his parents and demanded Rs 1,14,00,000.

Sunny has transferred the amount to bank accounts and also to four mobile numbers. The women continued to threaten Sunny for more money. He was fed up and lodged a complaint to the police. Police are trying to trace the accused.

S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police said that they have already seized Rs 84 Lakhs from the beneficiary accounts, where she already managed to withdraw Rs 30L. DSP warns youth from such anonymous calls and asks them to disconnect the calls the next moment they start behaving inappropriately.
