The Russian space agency has officially announced that its Spacecraft Lune-25 has crashed into the moon. On Sunday Russia’s space agency Roscosmos reported that on Saturday they lost their contact with their spacecraft after it ran into trouble while preparing for its pre-landing.
They wrote, “The apparatus moved into an unpredictable orbit and ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the surface of the moon”
Since 1976, this was the first moon mission for Russia, and that is when Russia was part of the Soviet Union.
Lune 25 was scheduled to land on the south pole on Monday on the moon. But even before it tried for a pre-landing and crashed into the moon. Russians were racing towards the Indian spacecraft.
After Russia’s Luna-25 crash, the Indian Space Research Station announced that an Indian spacecraft will land on the moon on August 23rd. All the systems on the craft are perfectly fine and no contingencies are expected while landing.
India failed to land on the moon in 2019. Chadrayaan-2 was a failure, it crashed into the moon when trying to land and now after the Russian spacecraft crash, more tension prevails over the Chandrayaan-3 landing.
