Forbes, the renowned business magazine, has recently unveiled its latest compilation of the World's Most Powerful Women for 2023. Remarkably, this esteemed list includes four exceptional Indian women who have not only defied societal barriers but have also left an indelible mark on the global stage. Through their outstanding accomplishments, these women have become influential voices that resonate with diversity and strength emanating from India. Forbes employed four key criteria, namely wealth, media presence, impact, and spheres of influence, to determine the rankings. As the world applauds their achievements, these four Indian women serve as powerful symbols of resilience, leadership, and excellence in the international arena. Nirmala Sitharaman (ranked 32) - At 64 years old, Nirmala Sitharaman holds a prominent position in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has been serving as India's Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs since 2019. Prior to this, she held the esteemed title of India's 28th Defence Minister from 2017 to 2019, making her the second female to ever hold both the defence and finance portfolios, following in the footsteps of Indira Gandhi. Last year, Forbes acknowledged her influence by ranking her 36th among the world's most powerful women, and this year, she has climbed even higher to the 32nd spot.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra (ranked 60) - Aged 42, Roshni Nadar Malhotra stands as an Indian billionaire and philanthropist whose impact reverberates far and wide.

Soma Mondal, the current Chairperson of the Steel Authority of India, has made history as the first woman to hold this position since January 2021. Born in Bhubaneswar, she graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1984. With over 35 years of experience in the metal industry, she began her career at NALCO and later joined SAIL in 2017, where she rose to become Director (Commercial). Ms Mondal's accomplishments include being the first woman Functional Director and Chairman at SAIL. In addition to her corporate success, she serves as the Chairperson of SCOPE and was recognized as 'CEO of the Year' at the ETPrime Women Leadership Awards in 2023. She is ranked 70th on the list.

India. In addition to her work in biotechnology companies, she previously served as the chairperson of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Ms. Mazumdar-Shaw has been widely recognized for her contributions to science and chemistry, including receiving the prestigious Othmer Gold Medal in 2014. Her achievements have also been acknowledged by the Financial Times, which named her one of the Top 50 women in Business in 2011. Furthermore, Forbes has consistently recognized her power and influence, ranking her as the 68th most powerful woman globally in 2019. Her entrepreneurial success was further celebrated in 2020 when she was honored as the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year. Currently, she holds the 76th position in Forbes' List of powerful women for the year 2023.
