Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested in the United States, in Sacramento, California last Thursday. Bishnoi, who is wanted by India in connection with several high-profile cases, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and the killing of a former Maharashtra minister, was arrested for entering the US with illegal documents. However, he has not been arrested for the crimes he is accused of by the Indian government. While the US government has informed India about Bishnoi's detention, there is currently no possibility of him being extradited to India, as per Delhi's request earlier this month. Bishnoi is currently being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail in the state of Iowa.
The Mumbai Police have requested the Indian government to extradite Bishnoi, who is wanted in a case filed by the National Investigation Agency. A court in Maharashtra has issued a non-bailable warrant, and Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice for him. Bishnoi, from Punjab's Fazilka, was previously believed to be in Canada after fleeing India using a fake passport. He also faces two cases filed by the National Investigation Agency, India's anti-terror unit, which has put him on their most-wanted list and offered a reward of Rs 10 lakh. The Bishnoi gang, which gained attention for the murder of singer Moosewala, made headlines again this year after a shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan's home on April 14. Security was increased at his house due to ongoing threats in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi regarding the 1998 blackbuck hunting case. The gang is also being investigated for the murder of politician Baba Siddique, known to be close to Salman Khan, last month.
