In comments expected to provoke a significant reaction from New Delhi, General Asim Munir, the Chief of the Pakistan Army, emphasized that Kashmir remains Islamabad's essential lifeblood and affirmed that Pakistan will always remember this connection. Furthermore, he reiterated his support for the two-nation theory, which underpinned the Partition of 1947. Speaking to a group of Pakistanis living abroad, General Munir highlighted their role as representatives of their country and underscored the importance of recognizing their affiliation with a "superior ideology and culture."

He encouraged them to pass down the narrative of Pakistan to their children, asserting that the founding figures believed that Muslims differed fundamentally from Hindus in various facets of life, including religion, customs, traditions, philosophies, and aspirations. This differentiation served as the cornerstone of the two-nation theory. This theory, which argued for a separate state for Muslims prior to Independence, was championed by leaders like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who later became Pakistan's first Governor General. It contradicts the notion of a shared history and heritage between India and Pakistan and challenges principles of secularism.

General Munir firmly stated that India and Pakistan are distinct nations, asserting, "We are not one nation. This distinction is why our ancestors fought to establish this nation. We and our forebears have made tremendous sacrifices for its creation. We possess the capability to defend our homeland. My dear brothers, sisters, daughters, and sons, I urge you to keep the story of Pakistan in your hearts. Ensure you pass it on to the next generation so that their ties to Pakistan remain strong."

Addressing concerns regarding potential foreign investment being hindered by terrorist activities, General Munir posited, "Do you really believe that terrorists can dictate the future of our nation? If the 1.3 million-strong Indian Army, with all its resources, fails to intimidate us, can these terrorists truly overpower the Pakistani armed forces?" He also asserted that the military will take decisive action against separatist movements in Balochistan, stating, "Balochistan is a source of pride for Pakistan. You believe it can be taken from us easily? It will not be relinquished in ten generations. God willing, we will defeat these terrorists swiftly. Pakistan will remain resilient." As for Kashmir, General Munir declared, "Our position is crystal clear: it has been our lifeblood, it will continue to be so, and we will never forget it. We will stand by our Kashmiri brothers in their valiant struggle."

The Ministry of External Affairs has not yet issued a comment regarding the statements made, but in light of the comments from the chief of the Pakistan Army, a reply is anticipated shortly. In a nation where military leaders frequently engage in political matters, General Munir's statements establish the framework for Islamabad's position on various topics, particularly its diplomatic relations with India. He emphasizes the two-nation theory, promoting a sense of belonging among Pakistanis to strengthen national unity during a difficult period for the country. Additionally, his statements portray the military as the guardian of Pakistan's Islamic identity and territorial integrity. The remarks concerning Kashmir indicate that this issue continues to be central to the Indo-Pakistani conflict and that there is no indication from Islamabad of a desire to ease its stance. The anti-India tone in the General's comments could likely aggravate tensions between the two nations.
