After the huge success of Kalki 2898 AD, all eyes are on Nag Ashwin and its sequel. If you have seen the film, you know that Kalki, 2898 AD ends with a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger features a pregnant Deepika Padukone as the lead character and suggests that she will play an important role. However, new reports suggest that Deepika might be replaced in the sequel. An unconfirmed report by Bollywood Hungama claims that Deepika was originally supposed to be a part of the second installment of Kalki (2898 AD). Sources had earlier told the publication that director Nag Ashwin was ready to wait for Deepika to take mandatory maternity leave. However, the success of Kalki led to the year 2898 and the wish was fulfilled. “Regardless of Kalki’s fate, a sequel was definitely planned. As the producers expected, this film is a money maker more than anything else, so a resource is being built quickly." However, with the demand for a sequel increasing due to the growing success of the first film, the makers might decide to cast Deepika in the second part replace, the source added.
Speaking to Variety, Nag Ashwin revealed that the team has already completed filming for around 25 to 30 days and more are in the pipeline. “We've been shooting for about 25 or 30 days and there's still a lot of action left. It’s like starting a whole new production,” he said. “Any snagged ends and threads need to be wound up. Of course, the most important thing is the confrontation between these three, and Gandiva, which is considered the most powerful weapon, is most often between Jaskin, Karna and Ashwathama.""Kalki 2898 AD" has become one of the biggest hits of the year. The film has collected 536.75 crores in India so far.
