Story

The story is about five five odd balls who set out on a journey to find Fanny. The film is set in a Goan village Pocouli. Angie (played by Deepika Padukone) is a young widow, who lives with her mother-in-law Rosie (played by Dimple Kapadia). Freddie (played by Nasseruddin Shah) is the local post master and also the best friend of Angie. Freddie gets an undelivered letter that he had posted to his love interest, Stephanie 'Fanny' Fernandez, asking her to marry her. But the letter never reached her and was back in Freddie's hands after 46 years. Angie convinces Freddie to go and meet Fanny, just to find out her answer if she had received it. So Freddie, Angie and three others set out on a journey to find Fanny. Did they find her? What did they discover during the journey? Thats what the film is all about.

Analysis :

 Finding-Fanny-review

Finding Fanny starts at a slow pace but soon pulls you into the story and keeps you engrossed till the end. This is one film that you can go out and watch at a theatre, you will not be bored at any point of time. It's consistently enjoyable right from the first frame to the last. It makes you smile, and till the end. You don't get to see such films quite often. It's full of unexpected moments, cheeky delight and definitely a bold approach.

There is something for everyone in this film. For those who love light-hearted movies this is a breezy entertainment. And those who like to take a life lesson out of a movie can also ruminate over it.

The film has brilliant performance from Deepika Padukone, Naseeruddin Shah, Arjun Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur. The cinematography is beautiful and the narration is fluid. But the film has a silly plot, but you won't even realise it as the other positivities make it irrelevant. Finding Fanny is like a breath of fresh air.

Performance :

The film has a talented cast and the lead actors performed very well. Deepika Padukone played her role as Angie brillianty. Her character is such that you will instantly bond with Angie. She is definitely fluid in her craft. It makes you like her charcater instantly. Deepika brings Angie to life, no wonder Homi Adajania wanted to work with her in this film.

Arjun Kapoor is perfect for his character, a mix of angst and innocence. He matches his caliber to his team of oddballs with his own enthusiasm. As an actor he's fascinating to watch.

Nasseruddin Shah is a brilliant actor and yet again he proves himself. Shah is known to mould himself to the character he plays in a film. In this film he plays the Romeo of Pocouli in an endearing way, and with perfection.

Pankaj Kapur is another brilliant actor. The character of Don Pedro probably came alive due to his own eccentricities. He plays his role with ease. Watching him in his role is marvellous. Maybe Pedro's character would not have been what it is without him.

Dimple Kapadia plays Rosie who has a stern demeanor in the film. Yet the manner in which she vents out at Arjun in the pre-climax scene, after Pedro uses her, is exemplary. She played her role with flair. Her versatile caliber makes the role of Rosie crackle in the movie.

Final Word:
You should definitely watch this movie.
