Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora's father Anil Arora, died by suicide on Wednesday afternoon by jumping from the balcony of his home in Mumbai's Bandra. The family has not yet released a statement on the tragic incident. The Mumbai police are investigating the cause of the incident. Anil Arora's ex-wife, Joyce, told the police that he would regularly sit in the balcony and read newspapers, and they had started living together again in recent years. On the day of the incident, when Joyce saw his slippers in the living room, she went to look for him in the balcony and found that he had jumped. The building watchman was calling for help. Joyce also informed the police that Anil Arora was not suffering from any illness, except for some knee pain. A video shows an inconsolable Malaika rushing into the building.

Malaika Arora hurried back to Mumbai from Pune after hearing the tragic news. Her ex-husband, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, was also seen at Anil Arora's residence, speaking with the police and assessing the situation. The area around the house has been restricted with heavy police presence, ensuring privacy and order during this sensitive time. An ambulance was stationed outside the building. Malaika's celebrity friends, including her former partner Arjun Kapoor, were seen visiting the family after the news broke. Her ex-husband's family, including Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Sohail Khan, and Alvira Agnihotri, also rushed to be with her. Malaika had previously shared that she was only 11 when her parents, Joyce Polycarp and Anil Arora, separated. After the separation, Malaika and her younger sister, Amrita Arora, were primarily raised by their mother, who relocated from Thane to Chembur with both daughters.

In an interview with a magazine, Malaika once talked about his parents' estrangement. The actress also believes that the basics of her life serve her well. She said: “My parents' separation allowed me to look at my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a strong work ethic and learned the importance of getting up every morning and doing my best to be completely independent. She added: “I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn't easy. Looking back, the word I would have used to describe her was actually restless. But you also learn important lessons from difficult times.”
