At the silver jubilee celebration of IIFA 2025 held on Sunday, producer Boney Kapoor shared his intentions to create a sequel to Sridevi’s final film, Mom, featuring his daughter Khushi Kapoor. While addressing reporters on the green carpet, Boney highlighted his affection for his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, and noted their determination to emulate their mother Sridevi’s legacy by excelling in various film industries. He remarked, “I have seen all of Khushi’s projects. 'Archies', 'Loveyappa', and 'Nadaaniyaan' are among them. Following 'No Entry', I am looking to collaborate with her on a film that may potentially be titled 'Mom 2'. She is endeavoring to follow her mother’s path, as her mother was a leading star in every language she worked in. I aspire for Khushi and Janhvi to achieve a similar level of excellence.”
Released in 2017, Mom showcased Sridevi in a commanding role, directed by Ravi Udyawar. The film presents a compelling narrative of a mother pursuing justice for her daughter, highlighting Sridevi’s remarkable acting abilities. Her performance left a profound impact on both audiences and critics, ultimately earning her the Best Actress National Award posthumously. Mom stands as a touching homage to her skill and commitment as an actress. On a different note, Khushi Kapoor’s Nadaaniyaan has been released on Netflix. The film, produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, features a dynamic new cast under the guidance of Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. In addition to Khushi and Ibrahim, the cast includes Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhry, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj.
The plot centers on Pia Jai Singh (Khushi Kapoor), a socialite from South Delhi who feels that love should unfold according to a flawless script. She encounters Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan), an ambitious middle-class student determined to become the captain of his school’s debate team. When Pia persuades Arjun to pretend to be her boyfriend for a staged romantic performance, they believe they have everything manageable—until genuine emotions start to complicate their arrangement.
