Are you aware of the reasons we often gain weight in winter? Ayurveda suggests that colder weather enhances our internal digestive fire, leading to cravings for calorie-dense foods. Additionally, our reduced activity levels during this season contribute to weight gain. The winter months can bring feelings of heaviness and lethargy, which often result in higher water retention and a slower metabolism. However, nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee offers solutions to address weight gain concerns. In her recent Instagram post, she elaborates on triglycerides and their impact on the body. She also provides a straightforward method for losing weight. Anjali states, "What are triglycerides? When you gain weight, your triglyceride levels increase. These are fats stored in the body. When you consume excessive and unhealthy fats, such as refined oils, that's how they accumulate. Therefore, if you're retaining that fat, it manifests as triglycerides."

She further discusses the advantages of Ayurveda, mentioning, "Ayurveda has wonderful herbs that can enhance digestion. Once digestion improves, your cholesterol and triglyceride levels will decrease." Anjali emphasized that with Ayurvedic herbs, improved digestion, and appropriate lifestyle modifications, reducing triglycerides can be achieved effectively. In a prior Instagram post, Anjali Mukerjee addressed the issue of unhealthy eating patterns. In her video, she remarked, "Overeating has become a widespread habit, significantly contributing to premature aging. Numerous health problems, including obesity, cancer, and type 2 diabetes, stem from the excessive intake of processed and refined foods, and even from overeating what are typically considered healthy foods."

She encouraged a reduction in calorie intake and promoted a "nourishing, balanced diet." Supporting her point, she noted, "Over 50 years of research indicates that consuming a nourishing diet in moderation can slow the aging process and decrease the risk of disease by over 50%." Anjali urged her Instagram followers to incorporate "a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, raw vegetables, juices, nuts and seeds, quality proteins, and healthy fats rich in Omega-3 and MUFA, along with a small amount of saturated fat" into their diets to bolster health and mitigate the aging process.
