Gear up Britain for some super-size fruity fun! For all the avocado fans out there, here is some “big” news. The “Avozilla,” world's largest avocado is all set to hit the shelves of British supermarkets soon.
The rare avocado, weighing about 3lb and seven-and-a-half inches long, which is double the length and five times the weight of the standard variety, is cultivated by world's largest supplier of avocados in South Africa. Apparently, there are only four such trees in the world that yields this super-size delicacy.
Cashing in on the opportunity, Tesco has decided to put the fruit on sale. Talking about it, one of the buyers said, "The Avozilla has a fantastic taste with a rich, juicy, buttery texture, and creamy flavor. The ripe fruit is an attractive vivid green color - different from the darker-colored smaller variety - and its thick skin can actually be used as a serving bowl for guacamole.”
“Avocados are full of nutrients and vitamins, and by stocking these big varieties, we're making it easier than ever before for our customers to eat healthily. We believe the Avozilla will appeal to shoppers who are looking for value for money, but especially large families. Avocados are one of our fastest-growing areas in produce, with a staggering 30% growth so far this year," said one of the superintendents in Tesco.
The Avozilla has been priced at £3 each.
