World's ugliest dog, Elwood is dead. He was 8.

The canine was named the ugliest dog in 2007.

His owner, Karen Quigley, revealed that the Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix dog died suddenly on Thanksgiving morning. Apparently, Elwood was suffering from heath issues in recent months, but seemed too fit to die so suddenly.

The dark colored and hairless dog was often referred to by fans as Yoda, or E.T., for his resemblance to those famous science-fiction characters.

Elwood bagged the recognition in annual ugly dog contest at the Marin-Sonoma County Fair in California when he was 2.
