3 Indians among the shortlisted 100 aspirants for Mars tripHot Buzz

Three Indians have got place in the shortlisted candidates list for one-way trip to Mars in 2024. After several rounds of selection processes only 100 hopefuls have been selected to proceed to the next round among 202,586 applicants.

The Netherlands-based non-profit organisation Mars One has announced this challenging tour. The ambitious private mission aims to send four people after the selection process is completed.

Among 100 people finalized in round three, with 39 from the Americas, 31 from Europe, 16 from Asia, 7 from Africa, and 7 from Oceania. Gender wise it is 50 men and 50 women.

While, the Indian candidates include 29-year-old Taranjeet Singh Bhatia - who is studying Doctorate in Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, Ritika Singh, 29 - who lives in Dubai, and Shradha Prasad, 19 from Kerala.

While, the second round of the application process last year had shortlisted 44 Indians, of whom 27 were men and 17 were women.

The finalists will be given extensive training for years before their one-way trip to the Red Planet in 2024. The organizers are reportedly planning to form a colony with human beings.
