The Annual Mandala Pooja festival is going to be grandly celebrated by the Lord Ayyappa Swami Devotees of Phoenix metropolitan area in collaboration with Ayyappa Samaaj of Arizona. Hindu deity, Lord Ayyappan, is considered to be the son of Lord Siva and Mohini (avatar of lord Vishnu).
The festival marks the commencement of the auspicious mandalam festival at the world famous Sabarimala Ayyappa Swamy Temple in Kerala state of India. The celebration begin from the first day of Malayalam month of ‘Vrichikam’ and concluded on the eleventh day of Dhanu.
Devotees observes certain austerities, wear mudra mala, and make a pilgrimage to Sabarimala during this period. The Ayyappa devotes living in Arizona will also observe the rituals with the same ardor and devotion which they followed at the motherland.
The inaugural event was held on November 20 at Bharatiya Ekta Mandir and the Pooja and bhajan will continue for the next 41 days at devotee’s residence and other religious places till December 26.
According to the organizers, the main ritual will takes place on December 18 at Sri Venkata Krishna Kshetra Temple, Tempe. The day-long event highlights are Mahaganapati Homam, Lakshmi Pooja, Rudrabhishekam, Sarvaishwarya Pooja, abhishekams and Annadhanam.
The Annadhanam will includes rice, various curries made with coconut, rasam, sambar pickle, desert etc.
Devotees those who wish to participate Sarvaishwarya Pooja and Lakshmi Pooja may need to register the temple by Friday, December 16. Devotees participating in the Lakshmi Pooja and Sarvaishwarya Pooja are requested to bring Pooja Pushpam (Flower bunch), Nilavillakku (traditional Puja Oil Lamp), and Rice.
