Scottsdale Middle School Principal Gets $7k Without Board Approval

An Investigation was started to identify the suspect behind crediting $7,239 as stipend without being approved by School board, The Scottsdale Unified School Principal who was credited the illegal transaction, is being investigated by the high level committee of the district.

Christopher Thuman of Ingleside Middle School got the stipend on top of his $98,063 annual salary, according to attorney Susan segal , who was hired to investigate the case.

Segal also said that Thuman had a deal with former Superintendent Denise Birdwell when he was in the position of Executive director of community education and online learning being removed and then she offered him the post of being appointed as principal bearing the same payment norms for two years.

The agreement made between them was not reported to the school board’s concern, told segal.

Thuman was not blamed on this case as he was operating with a promise from Birdwell.

A letter reached Thuman Thursday morning stating that till date there is no wrongdoing found and he is not being personally investigated in the case .

Thuman was promoted to be principal in the year 2016-17 School year being paid the annual salary and the stipend for the contract and reported that he spoke to Birdwell as boss and believed it was good.

"Never did I think that this was out of the ordinary or inappropriate," said Thuman.

He also stated that he was not aware with sense of situation , and never thought what they did behind the Secens
