Lancet Study Says that Covid-19 Patients have One Symptom for a Long Time

It has been more than two years since the Covid-19 infections took a toll on the mankind. Half of the infected got admitted to hospital and a recent study said that the people who got infected with coronavirus have one symptom. The study has been published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine. The study is named as the longest follow-up study till date. The study told that several patients who recovered from Covid-19 continued to be in poor health even after two years when compared to the general population. Some of the patients more time to recover but the poor health continued in most of them. The study had 1192 participants in China who were infected with Covid-19 during the first phase of the pandemic in 2020.
The physical and mental health improved over time for most of the people. The patients of Covid-19 had poor health and bad quality of life than the general population. Some of the participants had one symptoms among fatigue, shortness of breath and sleeping difficulties. Some of them are taking up rehabilitation programs to recover completely from the illness. The study also understood about the vaccinations and how much time it takes to recover from the infection completely. Professor Bin Cao, of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, China is the lead author of the study said that the people who have symptoms for a long time should have to understand the longer course of illness.
The study told that 68 percent of the participants reported at least one long-term symptom of coronavirus. Two years after the infection, the symptoms have fallen to 55 percent as per the study.89 percent of the participants are back to work and are fit after two years. 35 percent of the participants have reported pain or discomfort when it came to mental health and 19 percent of them reported depression or anxiety.
