On account of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bahrain on Sunday, the Gulf nation government showed the humanitarian gesture by pardoning 250 Indian nationals serving sentences there.

Expressing gratitude to the oil-rich nation, Prime Minister's Office tweeted: "In a kind and humanitarian gesture, the Government of Bahrain has pardoned 250 Indians serving sentences in Bahrain."

According to reports, Saudi Arabia has the highest number of Indians, 1,811 followed by the United Arab Emirates at 1,392, lodged in various prisons. However, it is not clear how many Indians are lodged in jails in the Gulf kingdom.
