Shahrukh detained in airport, US apologizes

After grilling the Bollywood Badhshah Sharukh Khan for over two hours on , the US Customs and Border Protection Department penned down an apology to the Indian seeking apologies for detaining Shahrikh Khan at White Plain airport for a couple of hours on F. The letter said that Shahrukh failed to inform the US authorities about his programme. Khan was in US to address students at Yale University. In the letter, the border protection authorities mentioned that they had set Shahrukh Khan free after seeking permission from their higher authorities and that the entire process took over 75 minutes.

The disgusted actor later flew to Yale when Yale University officials contacted the customs officials over the detention of Shahrukh Khan.  Mr. Khan reportedly arrived in a chartered flight and while everyone was allowed to go swiftly, he was detained. Meanwhile, the external affairs minister S M Krishna, who is Moscow, has asked the Indian Ambassador to US, Nirupama Rao to take up the matter seriously and bring it to the notice of the US Government. 

But the incidents of Indian VIPs being frisked at the airports continue to hit headlines every now and then. In fact, the entire nation was at shock when the incident of Abdul Kalam being frisked at airport came to light. And Shahrukh Khan’s detention at airport is second time.(Phani)
